Trading Film - Even with HUDL Users

Trading film with your opponents is a key aspect to success during the season. This enables you to scout and look at the tendencies of your opponent. When trading film you can do so very easily from your Secured Page on SkyEye Sports. You can even trade film with other teams that have HUDL. All they have to do is create a school account like you did when you registered. If they have any questions that you cannot answer, feel free to contact us through our support line at 1-800-937-5920

Cutting and Tagging Film After Importing Film and Uploading To Site

Many of you have uploaded film and now it is time to take the next step. After importing your film and uploading it to your Secured Page, you want to cut that film and then eventually tag it. As a reminder, you can upload your film through either the website or through the RUNWAY Desktop Application. If you follow the "HOW TO" section on the webpage, each specific section can walk you through both cutting and tagging your film. I have highlighted those sections below in the pictures, but first I want to point out some advantages of both cutting and tagging film on SkyEye Sports.

Cutting Film

- Cut your large file into individual plays
- Players can take their plays and put them on their player profile page
- Use individual clips to create Highlight Films in RUNWAY

Tagging Film

- Track Down and Distance, Offense/Defense/Special Teams and anything else you want to tag
- Use Tagging to track stats for Player and Team Reports
- Separate plays when incorporating with your Playbook

RUNWAY Updates

Here at SkyEye Sports we are always seeking to make what you do easier. Just wanted to update everyone on the newest update to RUNWAY, our desktop application. Now after you import your film to RUNWAY, whether it be from camera, DVD, your computer or a flash drive, uploading your film to your secured page on the site is easier and faster than before. Now instead of transcoding all of your film first and then uploading the clips to the site, everything is done simultaneously. This will save you time and allow your film to be ready faster on the website so you can start tagging, cutting and trading your film right away.

Gameday Reminders

Make sure you have the current Silverlight installed. You can download the most up to date one here at http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight

Some schools have streaming video blocked. If you are trying to watch game film from school, make sure this isn't the case. If your film is uploaded, it means it CAN be played. Our system will not accept any film it cannot play. If you are getting a black box where the video should be, this means it might be getting blocked.

Make sure firewalls and antivirus software are letting SkyEye stream video. Some software requires you to click "Allow" before it will play the video.

Download RUNWAY from your secured page.

New Features on SkyEye Sports

Coaches,

As you all get back into school mode and prepare for the upcoming season of games, we wanted to take some time to tell you about some of the new features with your video here at SkyEye Sports. Our goal is to advance our software to make film editing even easier for you. Check out some of our new features below:

Continuous Play Button
Now in the tagging area within you secure page, you can choose whether to repeat each play/clip or to have it run continuously. This gives you the option to watch the entire game in order or to have each play repeat until you click on the next play. This option can be used by simply checking the box or unchecking the box beside the "repeat play" text.

Playlist Button and Play Selection Bar
Now when watching your game film in both regular or full screen mode, you can pull up your playlist. This allows for you as the user the ability to go to different plays by simply clicking on the play preview icon at the bottom. This eliminates the aspect of having to exit full screen mode and then choose your next play to watch. This feature works hand in hand with the "repeat play" feature discussed above.

Coming Soon to SkyEye Sports......
We have been listening to coach feedback and will soon release a new feature on the RUNWAY Desktop Application. Soon you will experience even faster upload speeds as the transcoding and uploading process will improve dramatically.

Coaches,

August 1st has arrived! Practice has begun for many of you and in just a few weeks from tomorrow night the football season will be kicked off. ARE YOU READY? IS YOUR FILM IN ORDER? There is so much that goes into game planning and film is a major part of this. You have your profile on SkyEye Sports but there are some particulars to check up on before the season officially begins. Read below to make sure you are up to date with your Computer and Mobile Devices both at school and at home.

Do You Have RUNWAY Downloaded to Your Computer?
If you have your SkyEye Sports account created, the next step is to download RUNWAY to your computer. RUNWAY is the Desktop Application that is to be used when Importing Film, Cutting Film, Creating Highlight Tapes and Uploading Film from RUNWAY to your School, Team and Player Profile Pages. Without utilizing RUNWAY, you will waste a lot of time with your film. Stay ahead of your opponents by letting RUNWAY cut your film for you and have it ready to tag on the website.

Do you Have Silverlight Downloaded to your Mac or Tablet Device?
If you are using a Mac / Apple Computer you will have to have Silverlight downloaded in order to watch film through the website. You can update your profiles without Silverlight but it is best to have Silverlight to get the full flow of the website setup of SkyEye Sports. SkyEye Sports does not currently run on iPad but does run on any tablet or mobile device that has Silverlight capabilities.

Do you players have accounts created?
Your players need to be linked to your school and team pages so their film can be on their individual pages. Build your roster for your different sports on your school and team pages and then once your film is uploaded your players can pull clips down to their profile pages. These links can then be shared through Email, Facebook or Twitter for everyone to see.
These are just a few things to check up on before the season starts. Also, read the previous blog entry below to get information on what else to check up on to make sure you are ready to go in a couple weeks.

Get Prepared For the Season Now! Being Ready to Go Next Month Is Essential

Are you ready for some football? We sure are. The season is right around the corner and we’re starting to prepare for it just like all of our coaches. We know that your time is limited and that a computer issue is the last thing you need when you’re trying to upload your video on a game night.

We want to make sure that your computer runs as smoothly as possible this season, so you can dominate those video uploads. Here’s what we recommend you do:

Run Updates

Even when the season’s come and gone, it’s good to check for updates on your computer about once a month. It keeps everything running quickly and smoothly.

On a PC:

  1. Click Start and go to the Control Panel. There should be a Windows Update category in there.

  2. Run all of the important updates that it suggests. If you have time, it doesn’t hurt to run all of them.

On a Mac:

  1. Click the Apple in the corner of your screen.

  2. Hit Software Update and the updates should automatically begin.

Keep in mind, most updates won’t fully install until you restart your machine, so save any work you might be in the middle of before starting.

Firewalls

Firewalls are a common issue that we see on school computers because of restrictions on the school’s network. You can check for firewalls by uploading some video to skyeyesports.com while connected to your school’s network. If you run into any issues or get a pop-up that indicates the upload is being blocked by a firewall, have your IT staff check out our firewall information and make the necessary changes.

As always, we are happy to talk with you or your IT staff to help determine what needs to be cleared in order for an upload to go through.

Update Your Internet Browser

When it comes to working on a PC, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox is the way to go with everything SkyEye Sports. It makes a huge difference with those buffering and video playback issues you see. If you’re using a Mac computer, there are some issues with Chrome and Silverlight, so we suggest Safari over other browsers.

Internet Speed

Your Internet speed can be a huge road block when uploading video. Check yours at speedtest.net.

Download Speed
Your download speed will affect video playback and issues loading the video in your library. Typically, if you see a download speed of anything less than 5.0 Mbps, you may be in trouble. We suggest at least 5.0-10.0 Mbps.

Upload Speed
Your upload speed determines how fast you can get video onto skyeyesports.com and onto the RUNWAY Desktop Application. The lower the number, the less likely your video will end up online. We suggest a speed of at least 2-3 Mbps for uploads.

If your upload or download numbers are low, you can talk to your IT staff or Internet provider about increasing your bandwidth.

We recommend that you upload film at school on your wired Ethernet connection which is a lot faster than a wireless connection.

Clean Up Your Library

You have received emails in recent weeks about moving your old film to "Archive Storage" and out of "Live Storage". If you have any questions about this please contact us or refer to the HOW TO section at the top of skyeyesports.com

Update your Rosters and Schedule

Make sure your players have their player profiles created so that they will show up on your roster. Be sure to also input your game schedule so that you, players and fans can keep track of the schedule for the upcoming season.

Please take time to check up on the above topics so that the season will get off to a great start. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns through email (info@skyeyesports.com) or our support line at 1-800-937-5920
